Jackie Azoulay Leaves MasterChef After Injury

The reality TV personality departed the cooking competition following a dramatic knife accident during a team challenge and tensions with fellow contestant Eden Harel

MasterChef Israel

Jackie Azoulay's run on the current season of MasterChef Israel came to an unexpected end this week. The reality television personality, who gained popularity through her appearance on the Israeli version of "Survivor VIP," left the culinary competition on Channel 12 after a series of dramatic incidents in the kitchen, including disagreements with other contestants. Azoulay had entered the competition with considerable home cooking experience and confidence in her abilities. During one challenge, she declared her chicken liver salad "the tastiest in the world," but ultimately her skills were not enough to keep her in the running for the title.

The Injury That Stopped Production

One of the season's most dramatic moments occurred during a team challenge that paired Azoulay with contestant Eden Harel. What began as a professional disagreement over whether to add tahini to a chicken liver dish escalated when a sharp kitchen knife slipped from Harel's hand and struck Azoulay. "Whoa, I think it got two fingers!" Azoulay exclaimed. Production immediately halted filming, and the contestants were forced to stop working. Harel expressed regret over the accident while Azoulay received treatment for the wound.

Culinary Tensions Between Contestants

The injury occurred against a backdrop of culinary disagreement between the two women. Harel, confident in her unique technique, chose to incorporate tahini into the liver mixture. "Tahini keeps the texture from drying out and it comes out perfect," she explained. "And I'm honestly shocked that not everyone knows this."

Azoulay strongly opposed the approach. "Why didn't you listen to me?" she asked after tasting the mixture. In a separate interview segment, she added: "Sometimes people don't know how much I know and how much I really have incredibly good intuition."

A Busy Life Beyond the Kitchen

In recent months, Azoulay has maintained an active television career. Alongside her participation in MasterChef, she continues to appear on "Survivor VIP" and attends numerous social events. Several months ago, she celebrated her son's bar mitzvah at an elaborate party, where she shared an emotional moment with her ex-husband, Israel Azoulay. Guests at the celebration included Leah Schnirer, Michal Amdursky, Jeffrey Yishai, and other friends from Survivor. The event, held at the AVENUE venue, featured a performance by the band Sfatayim and impressive production values. Azoulay was also among the guests at Mor Maman's birthday party, alongside Maor Edri, Hani and Yaakov Buzaglo, and Nava Buker. Her frequent appearances at social events have made her a recognizable figure in Israeli entertainment circles.

Personal Stories in the Current Season

The current season of "MasterChef: Dream Team" showcases not only culinary competition but also moving personal stories from the contestants. Gal Kaspars, for instance, shared an intriguing glimpse into early motherhood, she became a mother at just 18 years old and has been raising her daughters as a single parent for approximately 12 years. Other contestants revealed stories of loss and pain. Bar shared that his mother passed away shortly before he began his journey on the program, and Tair Mordoch spoke about her two best friends who were killed in military service. "I'm living for all three of us," she said in an emotional interview. Azoulay's departure marks another turning point in the season, as the remaining contestants continue to compete for the coveted title.

Further updates on the season will be published as they develop.
