162nd Division Moves In: The Battle for Southern Lebanon Hits a New Gear
The elite 162nd Division has officially joined the ground offensive in southern Lebanon, bringing years of combat experience to the mission of clearing the border of terror threats.

In a significant move to bolster the northern offensive, the IDF has deployed the 162nd Division into southern Lebanon to join the ongoing ground maneuver. Having spent the last two years engaged in high-intensity urban combat against terrorists in the Gaza Strip, the division brings an unparalleled level of operational experience to the Lebanese theater. The 162nd will now operate alongside the 91st and 36th Divisions, focusing on expanding the security perimeter and eliminating the remaining Hezbollah strongholds that continue to threaten the residents of northern Israel.
Securing the Southern Frontier
The entry of the 162nd Division marks a new phase in the effort to push Hezbollah forces back from the border and ensure they can no longer launch direct fire into Israeli communities. The division’s objective is to systematically clear key strategic areas and destroy the weapons caches and launch sites that the terror group has embedded within civilian infrastructure. Before the ground troops began their advance, Israeli artillery and air assets conducted extensive strikes to neutralize immediate threats and clear the path for the maneuver. Military sources indicate that the goal is to create a permanent "security layer" that prevents the group from ever returning to its former positions south of the Litani River.
This expansion of the ground war comes at a time when Hezbollah is reportedly facing significant internal distress. Security officials noted that the group is struggling to adapt to the pressure as more Israeli divisions enter the fray. While the 162nd Division pushes forward in its sector, the 146th Division is simultaneously expanding its achievements in the western region. Despite challenging winter weather conditions that have complicated some aerial operations, the ground forces are maintaining a steady pace, driven by the mission to return northern residents safely to their homes and remove the shadow of the Iranian-backed terror regime from the border.
