Kiryat Yearim (Telshe Stone) is reeling after the tragic death of Shira Rachel Sheina, a 16-year-old seminary student who was killed in a devastating road accident in Afula on Tuesday night.
Shira Rachel was visiting her sister for the Lag BaOmer holiday when the two were struck by a vehicle while walking together. Despite frantic efforts by medical teams at HaEmek Medical Center, she succumbed to her injuries during the night.
The Incident: A Holiday Visit Turned Fatal
The accident occurred at approximately 10:20 PM on Tuesday night. Shira Rachel and her sister were walking near the Kfir Brigade (Hativat Kfir) Junction in Afula when a passing vehicle struck them, throwing both sisters onto the road and causing severe multi-systemic injuries.
Magen David Adom (MDA) teams arrived at the scene at 10:22 PM. Paramedics found both young women in critical condition with clouded consciousness.
MDA medic Mohammad Shanan described the scene: "We saw the two pedestrians suffering from severe trauma. We provided life-saving treatment and evacuated them to the hospital in very serious condition."
Shira Rachel was rushed to the trauma room at HaEmek Medical Center. Doctors fought for hours to stabilize her, but she was pronounced dead early Wednesday morning.
Community in Mourning
Shira Rachel was the daughter of Rabbi Menashe Sheina, a prominent scholar in the Telshe Stone community. A student at a prestigious seminary in Jerusalem, she was known by her peers and teachers for her exceptional character, piety, and kind-hearted nature.
"The light has been extinguished on the eve of the holiday," residents of Kiryat Yearim lamented, struggling to process the loss of a young life cut short at its peak.
Call for Prayers
While Shira Rachel’s life was tragically claimed, her sister remains hospitalized. Medical officials currently describe her condition as moderate. The public is asked to pray for her full and speedy recovery.
Details regarding the funeral procession have not yet been finalized. The community and Shira Rachel's classmates remain in total shock as they prepare to bid farewell to a beloved daughter and friend.
