Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu visited Ariel University on Tuesday and announced plans to establish a hospital in the settlement city. During a tour of the medical school and healthcare facilities, university officials presented him with expansion proposals for regional medical services.
Netanyahu's visit marked a return to a project he helped launch in 2017, when he and his wife participated in the cornerstone-laying ceremony for the medical school building. The medical school is now operational, and the university has established a regional medical center alongside it.
University President Professor Yehuda Grossman welcomed Netanyahu at a ceremony in the medical school building, noting the significance of his return. Grossman recalled Netanyahu's 2017 remarks that "the medical school at Ariel University will train generations of excellent physicians for the State of Israel," and stated the vision is being realized. "The cornerstone you laid has become a living, vibrant home of teaching, research, medical treatment, and public service," Grossman said.
He thanked Netanyahu for his long-standing support of the university and settlement in Samaria, as well as Professor Miriam Adelson, the late Sheldon Adelson, and the Helmsley Charitable Trust for their contributions to the regional medical center.
