A man in his 50s drowned Tuesday at Almogim Beach in the southern Israeli resort city of Eilat. He was pulled from the water unconscious, and despite extensive resuscitation efforts by emergency medical teams, he was pronounced dead at the scene.
Magen David Adom (MDA), Israel's national emergency medical service, dispatched paramedics and emergency medical technicians to the beach after receiving reports of the drowning. According to MDA paramedic Udi Adri and EMT Yehuda Ben Yitach from the organization's motorcycle unit, bystanders had already begun performing basic CPR when they arrived.
"We're talking about a man who was pulled from the water unconscious," the responders said. "When we reached the scene, we saw civilians performing basic resuscitation on the man who had been pulled from the beach. We continued the medical treatment, which included chest compressions, ventilation, and administering medications. Unfortunately, we had to pronounce him dead at the scene."
Further details are expected to be released shortly.
