Heartbreaking: Missing Neighbor Found Dead in Kfar Saba After Failing to Seek Shelter
A heartbreaking discovery in Kfar Saba: A 76-year-old man was found dead in his home after neighbors noticed he failed to show up at the building's shelter during sirens. ZAKA volunteers describe a complex recovery and urge the public to check on elderly residents during the ongoing conflict.

The relentless sirens of the past week have uncovered a heartbreaking tragedy in a quiet residential building on Ruppin Street. Earlier this afternoon, ZAKA volunteers were called to a scene that highlights the vital importance of looking out for elderly neighbors during wartime.
The discovery began with the vigilance of neighbors. Over the last several days, as rocket alerts sent residents scurrying to the building's protected space (Mamad/shelter), they noticed that a 76-year-old man who lived alone was consistently missing.
Alarmed by his absence during such critical moments, the neighbors attempted to contact him several times. When their knocks and calls went unanswered, they alerted emergency services.
Police and rescue teams broke into the apartment to find the man lifeless. According to ZAKA, he had passed away several days ago and was found in a state of advanced decomposition.
The recovery operation was particularly complex due to the conditions of the apartment and the building's layout. Hilik Miller, a specialist ZAKA volunteer, was brought in to assist, eventually using a dedicated crane to respectfully remove the deceased from the residence.
ZAKA spokesperson Motti Bukchin issued an urgent plea following the incident:
"We once again call on the public to show vigilance and responsibility toward those around you. Pay special attention to the elderly and those with limited mobility. Ensure they have a way to reach a protected space in time. Sometimes, a simple knock on the door or a quick phone call is all it takes to prevent such a tragedy."
