David Cunio, a 35-year-old Israeli-Argentine father abducted by Hamas during the October 7, 2023, attack on Kibbutz Nir Oz, was reunited with his wife, Sharon Aloni Cunio, and their three-year-old twin daughters, Emma and Yuli, following his release on Monday as part of a ceasefire agreement.

Cunio was kidnapped alongside his wife and daughters from their home during the assault, while his brother Ariel Cunio, 28, and Ariel's partner Arbel Yehoud were also taken captive.

Sharon and the twins were freed in November 2023 during an earlier truce, while Arbel was released after 482 days. David and Ariel remained in captivity for 738 days until their release.

Videos and images captured the emotional moment when David surprised his family, emerging to reunite with Sharon and the girls in tears and embraces. Ariel similarly reunited with Arbel, marking the end of separation for both couples. Their mother, Silvia Cunio, expressed relief, describing her sons as strong.

David was among the 20 living hostages released by Hamas, handed over to IDF troops in Gaza before medical checks and family reunions. Reports indicate he endured isolation in tunnels, with limited news from the outside world.

This release, which also included Argentine-Israeli Eitan Horn, concludes the return of living captives but highlights ongoing efforts to recover remains of deceased hostages.
