Nearly three months after the war in Gaza ended, a Srugim reporter conducted a revealing phone conversation with a Gaza resident to gauge the true humanitarian needs on the ground. The resident, believing he was speaking to an Arab journalist rather than an Israeli, provided surprisingly candid responses.

When asked about the actual needs of Gaza's population, the resident's answer defied expectations of humanitarian crisis.

"Wallah brother, we don't need anything, we're living and enjoying ourselves," he stated matter-of-factly.

Pressed further about what troubles people most in Gaza these days, he doubled down: "Nothing bothers them. The people are happy and enjoying themselves in Gaza, happy and enjoying."

The reporter continued probing about basic necessities. Regarding food and water availability, the resident reported: "Available and in abundance, whatever food you want."

On the medical situation and availability of medicines for the sick, he responded: "There's everything, the situation isn't difficult, the situation is 'luz' (excellent)."

But the most striking moment came when asked how Gazans view Hamas today, three months after the war's end.

"Hamas is the foundation, it's the foundation of the entire world. Who are we without Hamas? We're worth nothing. The people of Gaza without Hamas are worth nothing. Hamas is the foundation and long live Hamas, goodbye," he declared before ending the call.

The conversation offers a rare glimpse into perspectives within Gaza, where the resident, unaware he was speaking to an Israeli journalist, spoke freely about conditions in the Strip and unwavering support for the terrorist organization.

The Gaza Strip has been divided into two sections, an Israeli-controlled part and a Gazan part, and the future of Trump's plan for Gaza's rehabilitation and advancing to Phase B of the deal remains uncertain.
