Golani Brigade Ambushed: Captain Eitan Shmuel Lemberg Killed by Targeted Anti Tank Missile

A twenty-one-year-old tank commander from Mishmar HaShiva was killed in action when a terrorist fired an anti-tank guided missile at his vehicle in southern Lebanon. The devastating strike prompted immediate retaliatory air and artillery bombardments on nearby Hezbollah infrastructure.

The Israel Defense Forces confirmed on Thursday evening that Captain Eitan Shmuel Lemberg, a dedicated armor officer serving in the 75th Battalion of the 7th Sa'ar mi-Golan Brigade, was killed during intense combat operations in southern Lebanon. The young officer, who hailed from the community of Mishmar HaShiva, was leading his unit when his armored vehicle was targeted by hostile forces. The incident highlights the ongoing volatility and danger faced by frontline troops operating in the northern theater.

The fatal encounter took place at approximately 4:00 PM, when a terrorist managed to fire an anti-tank missile directly at a tank belonging to the Golani Brigade's divisional combat team. The units were operating in a sector located north of the Litani River when the projectile struck, causing fatal injuries to Lemberg. In immediate response to the lethal ambush, Israeli military forces unleashed a heavy combined assault, utilizing both precision airstrikes and artillery barrages to destroy Hezbollah terrorist infrastructure across the surrounding area.

Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu released an official statement addressing the loss, noting that the entire nation is grieving the passing of the brave armor officer. The Prime Minister shared that he and his wife send their deepest condolences to the grieving family during this incredibly difficult time. Netanyahu described Lemberg as a courageous commander who actively led his soldiers at the very front of the war to defend the state, vowing that his bravery and supreme sacrifice will be remembered and cherished by citizens forever.

The death of Lemberg marks a grim milestone, as he is the fourth Israeli soldier to fall in action within the past week alone. His death follows the recently announced losses of Staff Sergeant Michael Tyukin, a Givati reconnaissance fighter who was killed by an explosive drone during operations to capture the Beaufort fortress, as well as Staff Sergeant Adam Zarfati, a commando in the Maglan unit. The military also recently cleared for publication the name of Captain Doctor Uri Yosef Sylvester, a thirty-year-old battalion medical officer from Tel Aviv who perished alongside his comrades.

Sylvester lost his life in the same northern sector just three days prior when two explosive-laden suicide drones struck a Givati armored personnel carrier. That specific attack in the Beaufort region also resulted in severe injuries to two other officers and a combat soldier, while several other personnel sustained moderate to light injuries. All wounded service members were quickly evacuated by medical teams to regional hospitals for emergency treatment, and their families were formally notified by military authorities as the defense establishment continues its broad operations across southern Lebanon.
