Outrage erupted after a video showed an Arab woman putting out Hanukkah candles at the Weizmann Mall in Tel Aviv, with authorities now examining the criminal and legal aspects of the shocking act.
The police have launched an investigation following complaints over a video circulating on social media showing an Arab woman extinguishing Hanukkah candles at the Weizmann Mall in Tel Aviv, apparently without any provocation.
According to security camera footage, the incident occurred yesterday at the mall near Ichilov Hospital. The woman was seen walking through the mall with her partner, approaching a Hanukkah menorah on display, and extinguishing the candles. The man accompanying her appeared to clap after the act, and the woman then returned to extinguish another candle.
In addition to the security footage, the woman filmed herself carrying out the act and posted the video to her Instagram story, reportedly boasting about it.
A police official said that following the complaints, an investigation was opened to examine the circumstances of the event. “It is clear that she extinguished the candles on the menorah. We are examining both the criminal and legal aspects of the case,” the official stated.
