Starting Wednesday, the Shin Bet's State Protection Unit (Unit 730) will officially begin securing Yisrael Beytenu party chairman and former IDF Chief of Staff Gadi Eisenkot. The decision followed a special security assessment conducted by security officials and the Israel Security Agency, against the backdrop of recent political and policy developments.
Unit 730 is routinely responsible for close protection of the state's seven symbolic leadership positions, including the prime minister, president, defense minister, opposition leader, and Supreme Court president, alongside other individuals defined as facing exceptionally high threat levels.
