CLOSE CALL: Hezbollah Suicide Drone Detonates Near IDF Troops in Southern Lebanon

Hezbollah has escalated its violations of the fragile ceasefire, launching an explosive-laden drone that detonated near IDF soldiers in southern Lebanon. While no casualties were reported, the attack follows another successful IAF interception of a hostile aircraft targeting troops earlier today.

For the second time in a single afternoon, the Hezbollah terrorist organization has breached ceasefire understandings by targeting Israeli forces operating in the northern arena.

According to the IDF Spokesperson, a suicide drone (explosive-laden UAV) was launched toward IDF troops operating south of the forward line of defense. The drone detonated in close proximity to the soldiers; however, the military confirmed there were no casualties in the incident.

IAF Interception

The drone attack followed a separate provocation earlier Monday. The Israeli Air Force (IAF) successfully intercepted a "hostile aircraft." also launched by Hezbollah, targeting the operational space of IDF forces in southern Lebanon.

The aircraft was neutralized before it could reach its target.

Because the threat did not cross into sovereign Israeli territory, no home-front sirens were activated, in accordance with standard policy.

The IDF Response

Jerusalem views these incidents as direct violations of the diplomatic understandings reached to end the recent round of fighting. Despite the provocations, the IDF maintains its presence along the forward line of defense.

"The IDF continues to operate in the area of the forward line of defense, destroying terrorist infrastructure and removing threats to the citizens of the State of Israel and IDF forces," the military stated.

The increase in drone activity comes amid reports that the IAF has begun retaliating against strategic Hezbollah infrastructure in the Beqaa Valley, signaling that the "restraint" phase of the ceasefire may be nearing its end.
