IDF launches Operation Nation As Lion to strike Tehran

The IDF provided an explanation a short time ago tonight (Thursday/Friday) for why it had to launch the offensive against Iran:

"Operation name - With Kelvia [Lion of God]

"Under the guidance of the political echelon, we have launched a focused and precise operation to remove threats from all of the State of Israel, to strike the nuclear program and the long-range missile firing capabilities of the Iranian regime.

"Why now? We have been following developments for years, and recently - we identify that Iran is racing toward a nuclear bomb. The project is at a stage where if we don't act now, we will know less each day. In addition, Iran has thousands of ballistic missiles, which by themselves are an existential threat. We also identify attempts to arm proxies in the Middle East against the State of Israel. In recent years they began to formulate a concrete plan for the destruction of the State of Israel.

"We are now in a "strategic" window of opportunity, a point of no return, and we have no choice but to act. We launched the operation at a point where the threat is real and against this our operational readiness is good - we are conducting ongoing situation assessments. The operation will go on and develop as required.

"We are now launching a campaign that asks the public not to send locations of strikes or to document, and we will act to give warning of at least ten minutes before missile fire or any other type of event."
