IDF Soldier Ori Greenberg Killed in Hezbollah Clash
According to an initial IDF investigation, the incident occurred around 2 a.m., when Golani forces operating in the area identified several Hezbollah operatives nearby. The troops engaged the gunmen, leading to a firefight during which Greenberg was killed.

An IDF soldier was killed overnight during an exchange of fire with Hezbollah operatives in southern Lebanon, the military announced.
The soldier was identified as Staff Sgt. Ori Greenberg, 21, a member of the Golani Brigade’s Reconnaissance Unit from Petah Tikva. He is the third Israeli soldier killed since the launch of the renewed ground offensive against Hezbollah in southern Lebanon.
Another soldier was lightly wounded in the exchange and did not require hospitalization, the military said.
The IDF reported that several Hezbollah operatives were killed during the clash. Forces remained in the area following the incident, conducting scans for additional suspects.
The fighting is part of ongoing Israeli ground operations in southern Lebanon, where troops have been carrying out targeted raids and engagements against Hezbollah positions along the border region.
In the past 24 hours, Hezbollah launched approximately 600 rockets, UAVs (drones), and mortar shells toward Israeli territory and IDF soldiers in southern Lebanon. The vast majority were aimed at the maneuvering forces.
Belaaz reports:
Greenberg was the son of Lt. Col. (res.) Amotz Greenberg, who was also killed in action during Operation Protective Edge in 2014, when Ori was only 12 years old.
