Ex-IDF Soldier Alex Miller Dies by Suicide
The community of Katzrin mourns 23-year-old veteran Alex Miller, who took his own life after struggling with severe trauma and the loss of a close comrade.

The Israeli community is mourning the loss of Alex Miller, a 23-year-old discharged combat soldier who took his own life in the United States after a long and painful struggle with post-traumatic stress disorder (PTSD).
Alex Miller, the only son of Danny Miller from Katzrin, served as a fighter in the Kfir Brigade. On October 30, 2022, he was moderately wounded in a serious car-ramming terror attack while waiting with his comrades at the entrance to the Nabi Musa training complex in Judea and Samaria.
Despite his injuries, Alex showed remarkable resilience. He insisted on recovering and returning to his unit to continue serving alongside his friends, whom he deeply loved. As an only child, he required special parental approval to serve in a combat role.
In the years following the attack, Alex battled severe psychological trauma. The pain intensified in June 2025 when his close friend and comrade, Noam Shemesh, fell in battle during operations in Khan Yunis, Gaza. According to his father Danny, these two events, the terror attack and the loss of his dear friend, broke Alex.
In recent weeks, Alex had been in the United States (reportedly in the Miami area), working as a security guard and attempting to build a new life and move forward. Tragically, the accumulated trauma proved too heavy to bear.
Danny Miller shared: “I can’t comprehend it. I invested my whole life in raising and nurturing him. We had many conversations about the attack, but apparently the incident and Noam’s death shattered him. Even though he didn’t admit it, he suffered terribly.”
The Katzrin Local Council issued a statement expressing deep sorrow: “We mourn this terrible loss, share in the family’s profound grief, and send a huge embrace to his dear father Danny during this unbearably difficult time.”
May Alex Miller’s memory be a blessing.
