Hundreds of Cars Burn in Kiryat Arba Fire

Dozens of firefighters battle blaze at vehicle dismantling yard as gas canisters explode; IDF assists with water supply

Fire

A large fire erupted Saturday night at a vehicle dismantling yard in Industrial Zone B of Kiryat Arba, a Jewish settlement near Hebron. Dozens of firefighters and volunteers from the Judea Regional Fire Station, supported by crews from neighboring districts, are working to extinguish the flames and prevent the fire from spreading.

According to reports from the scene, hundreds of vehicles are involved in the blaze. The intensity of the flames caused gas canisters at the site to explode in succession, complicating firefighting operations and endangering emergency personnel working in the area.

Deputy Chief Tamir Erez, commander of the Judea Regional Fire Station, provided an update on the situation: "This is a significant fire involving numerous vehicles, as well as gas canisters that are exploding as a result of the blaze. Upon arrival of the first crews at the scene and after assessing the situation, we dispatched all station teams to the location, along with crews from additional stations and neighboring districts."

He added that "the teams are operating in multiple sectors, and some parts of the fire damaged to high-voltage power lines. Additionally, IDF forces are assisting us on site with water supply." Firefighters are currently focusing their main effort on preventing the fire from spreading to an adjacent car lot, while simultaneously working to extinguish existing fire sources.

The Kiryat Arba Local Council spokesperson updated residents that the fire is under the control of firefighting and security forces, and that there is currently no danger to residents of the nearby Gal neighborhood. The council head and municipal leadership are in continuous contact with security and rescue authorities and are prepared for any scenario.

This incident joins a series of fires that have occurred recently in various areas across Israel. Several days ago, a woman died in a fire that broke out in Holon, a city near Tel Aviv, and in recent days additional fires have been recorded at waste sites throughout the country.

Rescue forces continue firefighting operations and have indicated that additional details will be provided as they become available.
