A True Miracle
Friendly fire and blast doors: The fight for Urim base on October 7
The IDF has released its investigation of the fight for Urim base in the Negev on October 7.

The IDF released its investigation into the battle for Unit 8200's Urim Base today (Thursday), revealing the failures and the heroism of the soldiers fighting to hold off the Hamas attack.
According to the investigation, ten well trained and equipped Hamas terrorists approached Urim base on five motorcycles. They created a breach in one of the fences with an explosive and effectively shut down the electricity. They then proceeded to shoot and kill a number of soldiers trying to defend the base either in specific locations or in a mobile defense.
The terrorists were delayed by fortifications and blast doors, but were ultimately successful in killing a number of IDF soldiers and paralyzing the base's war room with grenades.
An hour after the attack, IDF reinforcements poured in and eliminated the Hamas terrorists one small group at a time, this despite the on-scene commander nearly being killed twice after being mistakenly identified as a terrorist.
According to the IDF, the terrorists failed in their ultimate goals of stealing intelligence and kidnapping soldiers, despite being a particularly highly trained unit.
On the IDF's side, the failure to plan for an actual penetration of the base left the soldiers scrambling and ineffectively defending themselves.
