Panic grips Iran: "We have no connection with it"

Facing a potential military response from Israel following the missile attack from Yemen, Iran insists it has no connection with what the Houthis did.

Tehran awoke to a wave of anxiety on Monday as Israeli leaders signaled possible retaliation following a missile strike yesterday (Sunday) at Ben Gurion Airport, which they attribute to Houthis who are backed by Iran.

Iran's Foreign Ministry swiftly denied any involvement, asserting that the groups in question operate independently and without Tehran's direction.

Already last night, a number of Israeli officials made it clear that the attack should be not only on the Houthis, but also on Iran, which is in fact the head of the snake.

The Iranian ministry said in a statement: "We are not helping the Houthis, their support for the Palestinians is their independent decision that stems from their sense of Islamic solidarity."

For the first time ever, a fall was recorded at Ben Gurion Airport; the missile crashed near Terminal 3. The airport was closed for about an hour but then reopened.

German carrier Lufthansa and Spanish airline Air Europa both halted their flights to and from Tel Aviv in response to the strike near Israel’s main international gateway. This comes as concerns rise over the safety of airspace and infrastructure.

Among other flight companies, Wizz Air announced the suspension of all flights to Israel for at least the next few days. Delta Airlines has canceled tonight’s flight from New York and tomorrow’s return flight from Tel Aviv.
