Israeli security forces conducted coordinated raids on homes in East Jerusalem targeting former prisoners and their families who were released in recent hostage exchange deals but have continued receiving payments from the Palestinian Authority.
The operation was carried out by the Defense Ministry's National Bureau for Counter Terror Financing (NBCTF), together with the Jerusalem District Central Unit. Authorities seized property, cash, and vehicles under confiscation orders issued by Defense Minister Israel Katz, which target compensation funds the Palestinian Authority pays to individuals convicted of terror offenses and their relatives.
Among those whose homes were raided were two men previously convicted of terror-related activities. One, Mahmoud Abd al-Rahman Abbad, was involved in a 2002 attempted suicide bombing in Jerusalem. The other, Ahed Faiz Ali al-Natsheh, identified as a Hamas operative, participated in planning a 2001 car bomb attack in a Pisgat Ze'ev apartment building parking lot and an attack at the Klal Center in Jerusalem that wounded two police officers and ten civilians.
During the operation, representatives from the Defense Ministry, Jerusalem police special patrol units, and Border Police forces searched the residences. They confiscated assets valued at hundreds of thousands of shekels, including five vehicles, approximately 96,000 shekels in cash, and gold jewelry.
