Two 24-year-old Israeli men from the north were arrested on suspicion of espionage for Iran. Among other things, the two were instructed to install cameras around the home of Defense Minister Israel Katz. This was permitted to be published today (Tuesday) within the framework of the serious security affair that was revealed for the first time last night by Kan News.

Security agencies stated that as part of a joint operation by the Shin Bet and Lahav 433 in the Israel Police, Roi Mizrahi and his friend Almog Atiyas, both 24 and residents of Nesher, were arrested at the end of April 2025 on suspicion of committing security offenses after they were suspected of gathering intelligence in the village of Kfar Achim, where Defense Minister Israel Katz resides.

The investigation by the Shin Bet and the police revealed that during the year 2025, Roi was in contact with Iranian terrorist elements and carried out a large number of various security tasks for them, some of which were done together with his friend Almog, while the two understood that they were acting under Iranian guidance and that their actions could harm the security of the state, driven by greed.

Among the security missions carried out at the request and guidance of his Iranian handlers, Roy purchased a new mobile phone and installed a dedicated application for communication with his handlers. Subsequently, he was requested by his handlers to transfer a bag buried in the ground from one point to another, which he understood contained an explosive charge. Roy carried out the transfer of the bag according to his handlers' instructions.

In the coming days, the prosecution is expected to file serious charges against the two. A security official stated: "This case joins a series of recent incidents indicating repeated efforts by hostile terror and intelligence elements to recruit Israeli citizens for carrying out missions intended to harm the security of the State of Israel and its residents."
