During the riots that broke out last night (between Sunday and Monday) near the brigade headquarters in Binyamin, in protest against the severe shooting incident on Saturday night, where a boy was injured and hit by IDF forces - the demonstrators targeted a vital security site.
It began with a heated demonstration in front of the brigade headquarters in Binyamin. The protesters, residents from the surrounding settlements, along with youth from the settlement core on the hill, protested demanding to bring the shooting officer to justice. The demonstrators also warned that "the dangerous backing that the system provides for the shooting that was carried out endangers the lives of all settlers and could result in loss of life."
According to an IDF spokesperson, "During the night, several Israeli civilians ignited and vandalized a security site that contains systems that help thwart attacks and maintain security in the Binyamin Brigade area. Harming this site poses a danger to the safety of the residents."
The IDF added: "The IDF condemns any manifestation of violence against security forces and expects security forces to take action against Israelis who harm security forces performing their duty to protect the security of Israeli citizens...The IDF and all security forces will continue to focus on ensuring the safety of citizens while enforcing the law and preventing any illegal activity."
In footage from the scene, published this morning by the IDF spokesperson, the sensitive security facility is seen scorched and burned. Many in the political system, including on the right, condemn what occurred.
