An Israeli man in his twenties was stabbed and moderately wounded near the Palestinian village of Auja in the Jordan Valley on Thursday, according to the Israel Defense Forces and emergency medical services.
The 24-year-old victim sustained a penetrating stab wound to his upper body, according to Magen David Adom (MDA), Israel's national emergency medical service. He was treated at the scene by MDA paramedics and medics before being evacuated to Shaare Zedek Medical Center in Jerusalem in moderate but stable condition.
Yehonatan Avrahami, a medic with United Hatzalah emergency service, said witnesses reported the victim "was stabbed when he stopped to make a purchase at a shop near the village of Auja. With the assistance of an IDF intensive care mobile unit, I provided initial medical treatment at the scene. His condition is currently defined as moderate and stable."
MDA volunteers Shai Eigner and Gal Shani, who responded to the scene, described "considerable commotion at the location. We identified a man approximately 24 years old, fully conscious, with stab wounds to his upper body. In coordination with IDF medical forces and together with additional medics and paramedics who arrived, we provided initial medical treatment including stopping bleeding, bandaging and stabilization. He was evacuated in moderate condition to the trauma unit at Shaare Zedek Medical Center."
