Direct Hit in Kiryat Shmona: 4 Injured, 1 Critical
A rocket from Lebanon scored a direct hit on a 5-story building in Kiryat Shmona. MDA reports one man in critical condition and a woman moderately wounded. Firefighters are searching for trapped residents amid the rubble.
A heavy rocket barrage from Lebanon struck the northern border city of Kiryat Shmona late Thursday afternoon, resulting in a direct hit on a five-story residential building. Emergency services confirmed that two people were wounded in the attack, which occurred shortly before 6:00 PM.
Casualties and Medical Response
Magen David Adom (MDA) teams, including ambulances, mobile intensive care units, and Medicycle first responders, rushed to the scene amid heavy smoke and debris.
MDA EMTs and paramedics are currently providing medical treatment and evacuating 4 wounded individuals to the hospital following the recent barrage:
A man approximately 60 years old in serious condition with shrapnel injuries.
A 68-year-old woman in moderate condition with a head injury.
Two young men in their 20s in light condition suffering from blast injuries (concussion/shockwaves).
"We arrived at the scene with large forces," said MDA emergency medic Moran Abu Shakara. "There was destruction and smoke everywhere. We rescued the wounded from among the ruins and immediately began life-saving medical treatment before evacuating them to the hospital."
Search and Rescue Operations
Firefighters from the Galil-Golan station are currently conducting extensive searches throughout the five-story structure to ensure no residents remain trapped under the rubble. The building sustained significant structural damage in the strike.
The attack followed "Red Alert" sirens that sent residents scrambling for shelter. While much of Kiryat Shmona has been evacuated since the start of the conflict, some residents remain in the city, which has been a primary target for Hezbollah's rocket and anti-tank missile units.
The Wider Conflict
The strike on Kiryat Shmona comes during a day of extreme escalation, including confirmed hits on strategic infrastructure in Haifa and ongoing IDF ground operations in Southern Lebanon (Operation "Roaring Lion"). The IDF continues to strike launch sites and Hezbollah infrastructure in response to the ongoing barrages against northern Israeli civilians.
