Opposition MK Calls It "Incitement to Murder"

Haredi MK Tells Opposition Lawmaker She Should Be Shot, Knesset Descends Into Craziness

MK Pindrus reignited a past statement about shooting road-blockers in the legs, then directed it at MK Lazimi. She and Yair Golan called it incitement to violence.

A stormy confrontation broke out Monday in the Knesset Education Committee after Degel HaTorah MK Yitzhak Pindrus doubled down on a past statement that anyone who blocks a road should be shot in the legs, and when pressed to apply his own logic to a fellow coalition minister, deflected with a pointed jab at opposition MK Naama Lazimi instead.

The clash was ignited by Yesh Atid MK Adi Azuz, who confronted Pindrus with his own words from a previous statement in which he had said "anyone who blocks a road should be shot in the legs." She then turned the statement against him directly, noting that Pindrus himself had participated last week in a haredi vehicle protest that blocked roads. "In your opinion, should MK Goldknopf be shot in the legs because he blocked a road?" she asked.

Pindrus declined to address the Goldknopf question. Instead he fired back at Azuz: "Start with Naama Lazimi."

The response detonated. Lazimi, a prominent opposition MK known for her involvement in the protest movement and in advocating for the families of hostages, reacted with fury on social media. "After Yariv Levin threatened me in a mafia-like fashion saying they would 'come for me,' Yitzhak Pindrus today outdid him by saying I should be shot in the legs in the Education Committee. This is incitement to murder," she wrote on X.

"I no longer have words to describe what they have done to the Knesset of Israel. Let it be clear, this is only the trailer. It is up to us to throw them out of our lives and rebuild a normal society. You will not frighten me and you will not threaten me. The camp of hope will win."

Democrats party chairman Yair Golan also weighed in sharply. "Pindrus, Naama Lazimi will continue to stand on her legs. And we will stand behind her until we see you removed from power. Naama Lazimi fought and physically shielded hostage families, survivors of captivity, and protesters from police violence. Calling to 'shoot her in the legs' is incitement to violence. This cannot pass in silence. In the next government, we will ensure that those who incite violence bear responsibility. The era of immunity will end."
