Lone Soldier SGT Moshe Yitzchak HaCohen Katz Killed in Lebanon
Katz, originally from New Haven, Connecticut, was killed during an engagement in which three additional soldiers were moderately wounded. The IDF said the families of those involved have been notified.

An IDF soldier, Sgt. Moshe Yitzchak Hacohen Katz, 22, was killed in combat in southern Lebanon, the military announced Sunday.
Katz, originally from New Haven, Connecticut, was killed during an engagement in which three additional soldiers were moderately wounded. The IDF said the families of those involved have been notified.
Katz is the fifth Israeli soldier to be killed in Lebanon since the launch of Operation Roaring Lion on February 28.
In a statement shared on social media, Katz’s father described his son as full of life and humor, expressing grief over the loss.
The incident comes amid continued fighting along the northern front, where Israeli forces are engaged in ground operations against Hezbollah positions.
Overnight, Iran and Hezbollah carried out a series of coordinated attacks on Israel, launching missiles, rockets, and drones at multiple locations.
Rocket fire from Hezbollah targeted the Menashe region in the early hours of the morning, while an Iranian ballistic missile triggered sirens in Beersheba, Ashkelon, and other areas in southern Israel shortly afterward.
Additional drone alerts were reported in northern communities near the Lebanon border, as well as in the Upper Galilee and the Golan Heights.
Emergency services said no casualties were reported from the overnight attacks.
The continued exchanges highlight the intensity of the multi-front conflict, with ongoing combat in Lebanon alongside persistent long-range attacks from Iran and its regional allies.
