Mossad Chief Declares "Mission Not Over" Until Tehran Regime Falls
Mossad Director David Barnea breaks his silence on the war with Iran, declaring that "Operation Lion’s Roar" will not end until the Tehran regime falls. In a defiant Holocaust Remembrance Day speech, Barnea reveals Mossad’s role in strikes on the capital and warns that the mission to dismantle the "extremist regime" is far from over.

In his first public comments since the outbreak of the war with Iran, Mossad Director David Barnea declared that Israel’s commitment will only be fulfilled when the "extremist regime" in Tehran is toppled. Speaking at a Holocaust Remembrance Day ceremony, Barnea emphasized that the campaign continues far beyond the recent strikes on the Iranian capital.
"Never Again" as a Military Mandate
Marking Holocaust Remembrance Day, Barnea drew a direct line between the atrocities of the past and the modern existential threat posed by the Islamic Republic.
"The naive are mistaken," Barnea stated. "The Iranian threat grew before our eyes, and the world's eyes, almost unchecked. We warned repeatedly about the nuclear danger and the ballistic missile arsenals."
He described the current conflict as a "war of necessity," noting that Israel finally took its fate into its own hands after years of warnings.
40 Days of "Operation Lion’s Roar"
Reflecting on the progress of the conflict, codenamed Operation Lion’s Roar, the Mossad chief highlighted the synergy between intelligence and military might:
Internal and External Pressures
Barnea’s speech appeared to be a direct rebuttal to critics who claimed the Mossad's pre-war assessments regarding regime collapse were overly optimistic.
The Succession Shadow
The address also marks one of Barnea’s final major public appearances before his scheduled departure on June 2, 2026. His exit follows a period of significant friction over the appointment of his successor, Major General Roman Gofman, a nomination Barnea reportedly opposed due to Gofman’s lack of traditional intelligence background.
