Staff Sergeant Inbar Avraham Kav, 20, from Lotem, was killed in a ramming and attempted stabbing attack at the Jit Junction near the settlement of Kedumim in Samaria on Sunday. The dedicated soldier, who served in the 890th Battalion of the Paratroopers Brigade, is the 913th Israeli soldier killed since the start of the war.

The deadly assault began when a commercial vehicle, driven by the terrorist, struck Kav and another Israeli vehicle at the hitchhiking station intersection. Following the ramming, the terrorist attempted to exit his vehicle and move toward the soldiers before he was neutralized.

A preliminary investigation is focused on the tragic circumstances of Kav's death. The Israel Defense Forces (IDF) is examining whether the soldier, after being struck by the terrorist's vehicle, was hit by IDF gunfire aimed at neutralizing the attacker. Initial reports suggest that the soldier was gravely injured by the fire directed at the terrorist, sustaining a severe head injury. Kav was rushed to Beilinson Hospital in critical condition, where he later succumbed to his wounds.

The terrorist, identified as 24-year-old Mahmoud al-A’qad from Shechem (Nablus), was killed on the spot by Paratroopers Brigade fighters and an armed civilian at the intersection. A knife was later discovered inside the terrorist’s car, indicating an intention to continue the assault after the ramming.

Following the attack, troops from the Samaria Regional Brigade were immediately dispatched to secure the area. Forces initiated inspections and set up roadblocks at the entrance to Shechem and surrounding villages from which the attacker originated.

The incident is the latest in a series of fatal attacks targeting Israeli forces and civilians. Just last week, two soldiers were killed in a shooting attack at the Allenby crossing. The deceased were identified as Lieutenant Colonel (Res.) Itzhak Harush, 68, and Sergeant Oren Hershko, 20. The terrorist in that incident, a Jordanian citizen, arrived in a humanitarian aid truck from Jordan before opening fire.
