Netanyahu at the Kotel Hours Before Polls Open: For Our IDF Heroes, Victory Over Our Enemies

Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu and his wife Sara visited the Western Wall Monday night, hours before polls open Tuesday morning in Israel's snap election.

Netanyahu was filmed writing in the Western Wall plaza guest book and placing a note between the ancient stones. Sara was seen at the site wearing a black head covering.

In the note he inserted between the stones, published by his office, the prime minister wrote: "For the lives of the soldiers of the IDF, our heroes, for victory over our enemies, for the success of our people, the Eternal One of Israel does not lie!" The note was decorated with a hand-drawn Israeli flag.

Netanyahu visits the Western Wall from time to time, particularly before fateful and significant days. His visit to the Kotel on the eve of Israel's strike on Iran is especially remembered, when he arrived together with Argentine President Javier Milei.

The tradition of visiting the Kotel before decisive events is not unique to Netanyahu. Last week, Gadi Eisenkot, chairman of the Yesh party, also came to the Western Wall ahead of the election. According to reports, worshippers at the site shouted insults at him.
