Israeli police and wildlife officials conducted a joint overnight operation Sunday in the village of A-Ram, located northeast of Jerusalem , resulting in the rescue of an Israeli gazelle fawn held in violation of wildlife protection laws. The operation was launched following intelligence provided by the Border Police's coastal district intelligence unit.
The rescue effort involved detectives from the Border Police's central unit, Border Police fighters operating in Judea and Samaria, and inspectors from the Israel Nature and Parks Authority's nature reserves division within the Civil Administration. During their search of the premises, forces discovered a young Israeli gazelle, a protected wild animal whose capture and possession are prohibited under Israeli law.
