An investigation into the incident revealed that the terrorist, a resident of Judea and Samaria without residency permits, arrived at the commercial center of Gan Yavneh armed with two knives.

A municipal policing team comprised of a police officer and an inspector, who received the distress calls, arrived on the scene in less than a minute and began to conduct sweeps.
