DISGRACEFUL: Pro-Palestinian protesters torch US flag at DNC
Israeli Consulate slams mayor for allegedly supporting the incendiary demonstration.
Pro-Palestinian demonstrators gathered outside the Israeli consulate in Chicago, where the Democratic National Convention is being held this week.
During the protest, several demonstrators burned an American flag, leading to multiple arrests. In the United States, flag desecration is a criminal offense, punishable by fines and jail time.
The Israeli Consulate expressed disappointment with the mayor's reported support for the pro-Palestinian demonstrators in the city. US President Joe Biden addressed the protests during his remarks to the convention, acknowledging the concerns of the demonstrators. "They've got a point—the war has gone on too long," Biden said, assuring the audience that he and Secretary of State Antony Blinken are working tirelessly to find a resolution.
