Justified anger
Liri Albag's mother: "She says they are angry with the commanders"
Shira Albag opens up about Liri's feelings towards the tragedy of October 7 and the frustration she shares with her friends.

More than two weeks after Liri Albag's release from Hamas captivity, her mother Shira shared in an interview with Kan Reshet Bet this morning (Sunday) about her daughter's condition, revealing anger over what happened on October 7. "Liri tells us that they are angry about how they captured the post. The anger was at the commanders that there wasn't enough guarding."
Referring to Hamas' release "ceremony" Shira said: "It was spontaneous. Hamas wanted them to talk, and they didn't. They saw the crowd and said, 'We won't come out weak, we'll come out heroic.' They came out victorious, they said, 'They won't break us.'"
Liri's mother shared that the girls feared for their lives in captivity: "All the time. They went through a lot of things there. At the moment, Liri only tells the good things, she says the bad things will have their time. There was a lot of abuse, even if not physical. It's a long process, what kept them together was their togetherness."
She also spoke about the special relationship with her friend Agam Berger, who was released a few days after Liri: "They talk with their eyes. When we were in the hospital, we felt that the connection between them was doing good, they didn't need to talk. It's a connection that we'll never understand. They were forbidden to hold hands and hug. They kept looking at them, and slept next to them in the room. There is no moment of rest, they were constantly under criticism." According to her, the scouts would sit for hours in captivity making braids: "That's the only way they could hold each other."
Shira spoke excitedly about life with Liri after his captivity: "It's been two weeks and we still can't believe it, it's a feeling that can't be explained. At home we touch Liri all day, we follow her everywhere so she doesn't suddenly disappear from us."
"Liri is fine, she's still processing what happened to her and what happened here," Shira added. "She asks a lot of questions, and tells what she wants to tell. We don't ask her. She shares and is not afraid to speak up. I want to believe that time will pass and she will be fine."
"I got my daughter back. My house is intact, my family is intact. I can't complain about anything anymore. I got mine. It's happiness, you can't explain it."
Shira also referred to the observation meeting with Trump's envoy to the Middle East, Steve Witkoff: "We contacted him as soon as Trump was elected, even before that. He's an amazing person who would really talk to us for hours, with the families of the scouts. His heart is in the right place. This connection cannot be explained. When he came, it was very exciting. We didn't have time to tell the girls who helped us behind the scenes, they didn't really know all the people. It was an exciting meeting, he is very committed."
