The IDF has announced the death of Sgt. First Class Guy Ludar, a 21-year-old commando from Yuvalim, who was killed overnight in southern Lebanon in a tragic friendly fire incident during a counter-terrorism operation.

Ludar was a soldier in the Maglan Unit of the Commando Brigade. His name was released after his family was notified.

What Happened

The incident occurred around 3 a.m. during an arrest operation in the southern Lebanese village of Shebaa. The Maglan commandos had raided the village to detain a suspect allegedly aiding Hezbollah by passing information about IDF forces in the area.

During the operation, a soldier reported spotting two suspicious figures fleeing the scene and opened fire. It was only afterward that the unit realized the two figures were not suspects, they were fellow Maglan fighters. Ludar was killed by the fire, and a second soldier was seriously wounded.
