Fatal Crash on Highway 2 Kills One

Two-vehicle collision on Israel's coastal highway leaves one dead and two others in critical condition

Scene of the crash

A fatal traffic collision claimed the life of a 60-year-old man Wednesday evening on Highway 2, Israel's main coastal highway, near the southern Haifa interchange. The crash between two private vehicles also left two other people critically injured.

Emergency services received the call at 10:14 p.m., according to Magen David Adom (MDA), Israel's national emergency medical service. Paramedics and EMTs arriving at the scene found the 60-year-old victim unconscious, without pulse or respiration, suffering from multi-system trauma. After medical assessment, they were forced to pronounce him dead at the scene.

Two additional victims were treated and evacuated to Rambam Medical Center in intensive care ambulances. A 30-year-old man in critical and unstable condition sustained multi-system trauma, while a 25-year-old man, also in critical condition, suffered abdominal and limb injuries.

MDA responders Yishai Levi, Shavach Rotenshtreich, and Rani Jabour described the scene: "This was a very serious traffic accident. When we arrived at the location, we observed two private vehicles with severe body damage and three casualties beside them." The teams provided treatment including "stopping bleeding, bandaging, and immobilization" before transporting the injured to the hospital.
