Netanyahu trial

Glikman: Where did the threats go?

Journalist Aviad Glickman questions why Prime Minister Netanyahu is now appearing at Jerusalem District Court for Mandelblit's testimony, after previous claims of security threats prevented his attendance at the same venue

Journalist Aviad Glickman took aim at Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu on Sunday over his appearance at the Jerusalem District Court for the testimony of former Attorney General Avichai Mandelblit. Glickman raised questions about the security claims previously put forward regarding Netanyahu's presence at the courthouse.

"For some reason there are no longer threats to the District Court in Jerusalem and no opinion from the Shin Bet chief that it's impossible to be present there," he wrote.

He added with a jab: "Interesting. Very interesting where the threats disappeared to."

His remarks refer to the question of security arrangements surrounding Netanyahu's participation in hearings at the Jerusalem District Court. The journalist sought to highlight the gap between claims raised in the past about the possibility of holding proceedings at the venue and the prime minister's arrival for Mandelblit's testimony.

Mandelblit, who served as attorney general when the indictment against Netanyahu was filed, has been summoned to testify for the defense. The prime minister's attorneys are expected to focus on questions relating to approvals given for investigative actions in his cases.
