A second Intel employee died Thursday morning from injuries sustained in Wednesday's explosion at the company's Kiryat Gat plant, Soroka Medical Center announced.

The 49-year-old victim had been evacuated to Soroka in critical condition Wednesday with multi-system trauma. Medical teams attempted prolonged resuscitation efforts but were forced to pronounce his death Thursday morning.

"We share in the family's grief," a Soroka spokesperson said.

A third victim, in his twenties, remains hospitalized in the internal intensive care unit in critical but stable condition. He is sedated and on a ventilator.

The explosion occurred Wednesday at the Intel facility in Kiryat Gat. According to police, a gas canister exploded, critically injuring three workers who were evacuated to Soroka.

Fire and Rescue Services reported that the subsequent blaze, which has been extinguished, involved nitrogen trifluoride (NF₃), a non-flammable gas, which is toxic when inhaled.

One of the injured workers died Wednesday, and the second victim's death was confirmed this morning. The explosion occurred at the plant entrance, apparently involving a tanker truck delivering gas to the facility.

The explosion occurred on Wednesday afternoon and was unrelated to Prime Minister Netanyahu's visit to the Kiryat Gat area at the same time.
