Seizing drugs in Yarka

Police seized a large quantity of drugs in a raid on a compound in the village of Yarka in the Western Galilee.

During the raid, officers uncovered a commercial quantity of suspected dangerous drugs allegedly intended for distribution. The haul included about 8 kilograms of hashish and about 1,000 Captagon pills. Captagon is a stimulant sometimes dubbed the “jihadist drug,” and it has been reported to have been used by Hamas and ISIS terrorists before carrying out attacks.

Officers also confiscated communication devices and a digital surveillance and recording system allegedly used for monitoring and tracking for criminal purposes.

Two suspects, both local residents, were arrested at the end of the operation and taken to the Western Galilee police station for further questioning.

“The Israel Police will continue to deploy all forces and operational units to thwart the smuggling and trafficking of dangerous drugs, and to bring those involved to justice for the sake of public safety,” police said in a statement.
