Senior strategic adviser Ronen Tzur addressed this morning (Wednesday) the election results showing that Netanyahu cannot form a government, but that the change bloc also suffered a heavy defeat and will not be able to assemble a coalition either.
"Netanyahu has carte blanche to do whatever he wants," Tzur said. "He's in no rush to form a coalition. In his view, the urgency is to go into battle against Iran. He has 42 days of coalition negotiations to launch a campaign in Iran. If he succeeds in toppling the Iranian regime, he'll go into the next election round as the big winner."
He added: "The change bloc, under historic and optimal conditions to break the blocs and bring people from Netanyahu's bloc to the change bloc, failed. Even if they manage to replace the Knesset speaker, they won't have public legitimacy. Not when they don't have the largest party and not the largest bloc as justification to come and say, 'This is what we're coming with.'"
