Herzog: Avoid another election round
President Yitzchak Herzog addressed the Knesset election results for the first time, calling on party leaders to form a government and prevent yet another trip to the polls

"Yesterday's election day was very impressive, and for the first time in decades, there was an enormous turnout," Herzog said. "This is a certificate of honor for Israeli society. It's very impressive. It made me very happy; it shows how significant the desire for democracy in Israel is."
"I will receive the official results next week from Justice Solberg," he noted. "After that, I will begin the process of consultations here, I will hear each faction, we will ask questions and hold discussions."
Concluding his remarks, he addressed Knesset members and party leaders: "One thing must be understood, and I said this even before the elections: we must do everything, especially after yesterday, to avoid going back to another election. So I expect everyone who comes here to come with an open mind."
