Following the final results of the 2026 elections and the failure of Ofer Winter's Amcha Yisrael party to cross the electoral threshold, candidate Lali Derai responded this morning to attacks and accusations of "burning votes" in the national camp.
In a pointed post on social media, she addressed the calls she has received since the results became known: "My brothers and sisters are reaching out to me demanding that I apologize and do soul-searching. So here it is: Sorry we wanted to bring a different discourse to Israeli politics, a discourse that sees the nation as a whole and not as 'blocs.' Sorry we wanted to bring new forces filled with hope. Sorry we simply wanted to serve our beloved nation."
She continued sarcastically to detail the party's principles and the platform it presented to voters: "Sorry we didn't accept a reality of autonomies that threaten sovereignty in our state. Sorry we promoted a discourse of brotherhood instead of a discourse of boycotts, that we knew how to distinguish between an enemy, who must be defeated, and a political rival. Sorry we tried to 'move the cheese' and disturbed everyone from continuing in exactly the same way while expecting something different."
