Israel Elections 2026

Left candidate concedes: "Dream slipping away"

Democrats party candidate Avi Dabush responds to exit polls showing right-wing victory: I'm proud of everyone who was part of the struggle and won't give up on equality, justice and peace

Left-Wing Candidate Concedes Defeat: The Dream is Slipping Away

Exit polls and updated Central Elections Committee results showing a clear win for the national camp have sparked deep disappointment among change bloc and left-wing leaders and activists.

Public figure Avi Dabush, a candidate for the Democrats party (13th place on the Knesset list), co-chair of the party's periphery headquarters and CEO of Rabbis for Human Rights, published a pained but resolute post on social media this morning, addressing the emerging mandate picture and its meaning for members of the camp.

"The results taking shape are distancing us greatly from the dream of a turnaround," Dabush admitted at the opening of his remarks, adding: "[I'm] hoping for significant improvement until the count is complete, it's important for me to say to myself and to the world: I am proud of myself and of everyone who was and remains part of the struggle for change."

Later in his statement, he emphasized the commitment to the path and values of the liberal-social camp despite the difficult results at the ballot box: "[I'm] proud of those who don't give up on the dream of a better Israel, who don't give up on equality, justice and peace. Who get off the fence into the heart of action, with all the costs."

He closed his message with a call not to lose hope and to strengthen field activists: "Our hope is not yet lost, my heroic friends and comrades."
