Karmiel opens shelters amid Iran threat

Northern city completes shelter preparations as tensions rise on Lebanese border and fears grow of renewed Iranian attack: Early readiness is the key

Public shelter

Karmiel has become the first Israeli city to open its public shelters in preparation for a possible renewed Iranian attack and escalating security threats on the northern front. Mayor Moshe Koninsky ordered the shelters opened nearly two weeks ago as part of early readiness measures to protect residents in potential escalation scenarios.

The public shelters across the city have been inspected and prepared to ensure they are accessible, maintained and ready for immediate use by residents if needed. Municipal systems remain on full alert as the city monitors security developments closely.

"Continue routine life and follow Home Front Command instructions"

Mayor Koninsky emphasized the importance of the proactive steps taken by the municipality and clarified that city systems are in a state of full readiness.

"Early preparation and responsibility are the key to protecting residents' safety," Koninsky said. "The public shelters in the city have been opened, and we continue to monitor developments closely and maintain constant contact with security and emergency officials."

The mayor concluded by calling on Karmiel residents to maintain vigilance while preserving normal life routines: "I call on residents to continue their routine, while at the same time being careful to follow Home Front Command instructions."
