The United States has decided to end the peacekeeping mandate of UNIFIL in southern Lebanon, and Israel has agreed with this decision, according to a report today (Sunday) by Israel Hayom's Ariel Kahana.

According to Kahana, the United States no longer has any interest in maintaining the peacekeeping force UNIFIL, which was tasked with monitoring the situation in southern Lebanon and ensuring no violations of UN Security Resolution 1701 occurred - all while Hezbollah build up an army ready to invade the Galilee by October 7, 2023.

Per Kahana, Israel has no real objection to this decision, as it considers the Lebanese Army to be much more effective in actually disarming Hezbollah and dismantling its terrorist infrastructures throughout Lebanon.

The mandate is expected to be repealed in a few months, though France is expected to oppose this decision.
