Casualty figures vary across official sources. According to the Syrian ambulance service, the blast killed two people and wounded 13. Syria's Health Ministry provided a lower count, stating at least seven people sustained injuries in the explosion. An Associated Press journalist present at the scene reported observing at least one body recovered from the vehicle wreckage.

The explosion occurred on a commercial street during busy hours. Emergency response teams arrived at the scene following the blast, and injured victims were transported to medical facilities for treatment. Video and photographic evidence from the scene documented significant damage to the minivan and surrounding structures.

No organization or group has claimed responsibility for the attack as of Wednesday evening. Investigators have not publicly identified a suspected perpetrator or motive.

Jaramana has experienced periodic sectarian tensions in recent years between segments of its Druze population and supporters of Syria's current Islamist-led government. The blast marks one of several security incidents recorded in the greater Damascus area in recent months, reflecting ongoing instability in Syria despite the nominal end of major combat operations.
