“Nobody Else Stopped”: Viral Post Praises Haredi Hatzalah Volunteer for Aiding Crash Victims in New Jersey
A non-Jewish witness’s viral post praises a Haredi Hatzalah volunteer who stopped to treat victims of a serious car crash in New Jersey while dozens of other drivers ignored the scene.

A heartfelt Facebook post by a non-Jewish New Jersey resident has gone viral after she witnessed a profound act of kindness and civic duty involving a Haredi Hatzalah volunteer at the scene of a serious traffic accident.
An Island of Compassion in a Stream of Indifference
The incident occurred at the busy intersection of Route 70 and Ridgeway near Lakewood, where a three-car chain-reaction collision left vehicles heavily damaged. According to reports from Lakewood Alerts, the impact was severe enough to deploy airbags and leave the victims in shock and in need of urgent medical attention.
The witness, who was stopped at a red light on the opposite side of the road, described a "shameful" scene as dozens of drivers bypassed the wreckage without stopping to help. The cycle of indifference was only broken when a Haredi man, identified as a volunteer for the "Hatzalah" emergency medical service, pulled over his vehicle.
“He Stepped Up When No One Else Would”
The witness recounted how the volunteer immediately grabbed his medical equipment bag and began providing life-saving first aid to the victims before official emergency services arrived on the scene.
In her post to a local community group, the woman expressed deep admiration for the volunteer’s selflessness, particularly noting that the aid was given without hesitation to people outside his own community.
"From what I could see, the people involved in the accident were not from the Jewish community and that makes this act even more significant," she wrote. "Kudos to this man for stepping up and helping when no one else did. This is a true example of what it means to care for others."
A Public Kiddush Hashem
The story has since resonated widely online as a powerful example of Kiddush Hashem (Sanctification of the Divine Name) and mutual responsibility. In a climate where tensions can often run high, the witness's account highlights the universal mission of Hatzalah volunteers who are trained to preserve life regardless of the victim's background.
