White House Press Secretary Karoline Leavitt delivered a clear and forceful briefing on Tuesday, outlining the American objectives for the ongoing war in Iran. Leavitt emphasized that President Trump is "extremely confident" in the progress of "Operation Epic Fury" and noted that US forces are currently operating "far ahead of schedule." She reiterated the President's stance that the war will only conclude when the Commander-in-Chief determines that the military objectives have been fully achieved. These goals include the total destruction of Iran’s ballistic missile arsenal, the leveling of its missile production industry, the neutralization of its terrorist proxies, and the permanent guarantee that the regime will never obtain a nuclear weapon.

The Threat to Global Energy

A central theme of Leavitt’s briefing was the security of the Strait of Hormuz. She warned that if the Iranian regime attempts to halt the flow of oil or global goods through the vital waterway, they will be hit by "the strongest military in the world" with a force "twenty times greater" than anything they have experienced so far. Leavitt revealed that the US military is currently developing "additional options" at the President's request to ensure the Strait remains open. While she declined to provide specifics, she stated that "the President is not afraid to use them" if the regime attempts to hold the world's energy supply hostage.

Defining Unconditional Surrender

Leavitt also clarified recent comments by President Trump regarding Iran being in a state of "unconditional surrender." She explained that this does not necessarily mean the regime will walk out and announce its own defeat. Instead, it refers to a state where Iran's threats are no longer backed by a "credible and direct" arsenal. "You can make a empty threat, but if you don't have actions to back it up, then it's an empty threat," Leavitt said. The President will determine that surrender has been achieved when the regime is no longer capable of threatening the United States or its allies with its ballistic missiles or its nuclear program.

The Intelligence Behind the War

In response to questions about the origins of the war, Leavitt confirmed that President Trump decided to launch "Operation Epic Fury" after receiving intelligence that Iran was within days of attacking American assets and personnel in the region. This assessment was based on facts presented by senior officials who had been negotiating with the regime. Leavitt accused the Iranian leadership of "lying and misleading" the United States during those talks while simultaneously accelerating their nuclear and missile programs. She emphasized that the President and his team acted in "good faith" throughout the diplomatic process, but were ultimately forced to act to prevent a catastrophic Iranian strike.
