A suspect has been taken into custody following an overnight incident at Vice President JD Vance's residence in the East Walnut Hills neighborhood, where several windows were found smashed, according to local authorities.

The U.S. Secret Service alerted Cincinnati police around 12:15 a.m. ET on January 5, 2026, after spotting an individual running eastbound from the property on William Howard Taft Drive.

Officers arrived to find visible damage, including broken windows, and remained on scene for several hours conducting an investigation.

Vance, who had been in Cincinnati for the past week, reportedly departed the city on Sunday afternoon and was not present at the time of the incident, nor were any family members.

No injuries were reported.

Secret Service agents indicated that an official statement is expected later in the day.
