A resurfaced video clip of controversial podcaster Amrou Fudl, better known as Myron Gaines, has gone viral on social media, sparking accusations that he aided a relative with alleged connections to war crimes in Sudan. In the footage, Gaines describes paying $3,000 to help his uncle flee the country due to his role in the administration of former Sudanese President Omar al-Bashir, whose regime is infamous for the Darfur genocide that claimed an estimated 300,000 lives between 2003 and 2008.

Gaines, a Sudanese-American and co-host of the Fresh & Fit podcast, has faced backlash for his inflammatory views on race, gender, and politics. The clip, originally from an appearance on the Joint Cannabis Club podcast in December 2024, shows Gaines recounting the incident as an example of financial preparedness during crises.

"My uncle used to work for the Omar Bashir administration, which now he's in jail for war crimes and s**t like that," Gaines says in the video. He explains that post-regime figures were being targeted for execution, prompting his parents to request funds for a flight to Qatar. "They say hey we need $3,000 to get your uncle out... They're looking for him and they're going to kill him," he adds, emphasizing, "Had I not had that money, bro, his blood would be on my hands."The pronoun "he" in Gaines' statement has fueled debate: Some interpret it as referring to al-Bashir, who was ousted in 2019, convicted of corruption, and faces International Criminal Court (ICC) charges for genocide, war crimes, and crimes against humanity in Darfur.

Others allege it implicates Gaines' uncle directly in atrocities. Al-Bashir's regime, backed by Arab militias like the Janjaweed (now part of the Rapid Support Forces or RSF), orchestrated systematic killings, rapes, and displacements in Darfur, targeting non-Arab ethnic groups.

Gaines does not specify his uncle's exact role, describing him only as an administration worker targeted in the post-Bashir crackdown.

Critics accused Gaines of aiding a war criminal to flee to Qatar, questioning U.S. Homeland Security's involvement, which is ironic given Gaines' past as a special agent with Homeland Security Investigations (HSI).

A YouTube video titled "The Connection Between Myron Gaines & The Conflict in Sudan," uploaded in October 2025, further alleges Gaines embodies an "Arabized" Sudanese mindset that perpetuates violence against Black Africans, though it provides no direct evidence on his uncle.

Gaines, who immigrated to the U.S. as a child and holds a degree in criminal justice, has not publicly responded to the latest uproar. His podcast often courts controversy, with past episodes drawing criticism for misogynistic and racially charged content.

Sudan's civil war, reignited in 2023 between the Sudanese Armed Forces and RSF, has displaced millions and killed tens of thousands, with echoes of Darfur's atrocities.

No evidence has surfaced confirming Gaines' uncle's direct involvement in war crimes, and U.S. authorities have not commented on potential immigration or legal implications.

As the video circulates, it points to ongoing tensions around Gaines' Sudanese heritage and his "America First" rhetoric, with calls for accountability growing online.
