AOC blasts DNC: "Palestinians deserve recognition, just like hostages"
Congresswoman cites Hamas casualty figures in call for Palestinian speakers at convention.
Far-left US Representative Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez (D-NY) took to X on Wednesday night to criticize the Democratic National Convention for what she perceives as the exclusion of Palestinian Arab voices.
"Just as we must honor the humanity of hostages, so too must we center the humanity of the 40,000 Palestinians killed under Israeli bombardment," AOC wrote.
She continued, "To deny that story is to participate in the dehumanization of Palestinians. The DNC must change course and affirm our shared humanity."
The figure of 40,000 that Ocasio-Cortez cited comes from the Hamas-run Gaza Health Ministry. The accuracy of this number is disputed, as it is unclear what percentage of those reported were terrorists.
