Eleven people were injured Monday following an explosion triggered by an ammonia gas leak at an industrial facility in the port of Aqaba, Jordan, according to reports from the Jordanian channel Al-Mamlaka. The victims suffered from suffocation in the incident.

Jordanian authorities evacuated the entire Aqaba port area as a precautionary measure following the blast. The injured were transported to a hospital for treatment, with all reported to be in light to moderate condition.

Officials later announced that the leak had been brought under control, and operations in the port area began returning to normal. Nadal al-Ouran, the official responsible for environmental quality and public safety in the Aqaba Economic Zone, confirmed that "technical inspections have verified that the situation is now under control."
